Winona’s Dixieland Jazz Festival is a beloved ode to the music that first found its fame along the banks of the Mississippi River way down south. Each June, the one-day festival kicks off with performances by local musicians as well as regional greats who bring the foot-tapping sounds of banjos, horns, and ragtime piano to the masses that turn out. The festival is 30 years strong and free to attend, sponsored by the Upper Mississippi Jazz Society. Musicians keep their instruments tuned year-round for monthly Dixieland jazz concerts around the area, including a Mardi Gras event each year that pays tribute to the legendary Mardi Gras in New Orleans.
The Winona Dixieland Jazz Festival has not yet announced its date for 2018, but check back here or the Winona Dixieland Jazz Festival website for updates and information about monthly events.
